As with many products, the tether has gone through a series of innovations from its early days as a simple chain or piece of cord.   Changes in material technology and an increasing availability of connecting hardware have made the process more versatile, even if a bit more complex.   We hope the information below helps to

We offer a broad range of tethering options across our standard product line.  We also have the capability of designing custom solutions if the options you find herein will not work in your particular environment or application - simply give us a call at (508) 686-6548 (ext 1), or complete our Custom Tether Inquiry form by clicking here.  In the meantime, the sections below will hopefully help you map out the ideal solution for your company...

Urethane is a composite material used in a broad range of applications.  As a tethering material, it retains its coil and shape better than vinyl, but it a bit more expensive. Aircraft cable is typically comprised of multi-filament steel encased in a vinyl or nylon jacket.  This provides the ultimate in strength and durability. As with most wire, copper cable is comprised of multi-stranded copper wire encased in a vinyl or nylon jacket.  This is more flexible than aircraft cable, but not as durable. Nylon cord is an incredibly versatile tethering material as it can be fixed or stretchy and made in a variety of thicknesses and textures.  It is ideal for neck lanyards and other tethers where high-strength is not an absolute requirement.

Tether Type – depending upon a particular application, tethers can be made in a variety of styles and lengths, retractable or not, adaptable to almost any user environment.
